As long as you don't keep the tampon in for an extended period of time, it should be ok. I would be concerned, however, with toxic shock syndrome. It's associated with keeping a tampon in for too long or using one with a too high absorbency rate. If you don't have your period yet, the tampon isn't absorbing anything really. Toxic shock syndrome is dangerous. Be careful... Do a search on the net for more info on the subject.
