Hi, I have been with the same partner for 1 1/2 years. I was diagnosed with molluscum in February and was using aldara cream to treat those bumps. They weren't really reacting or healing so I stopped using the cream. Then, I got anxious for them to go away so I started using the cream again. Suddenly, some new bumps appeared on my vulva and got swollen. I went to the doctor when the bumps were still there, but they had settled down a bit. My gynecologist took a culture of these sites and the test came back negative for herpes( and chlaymidia and gonorrhea). I know I could have gotten a "false negative" for herpes because the bumps were already healing. I haven't had any symptoms since my doctor visit. But, I'm anxious to know if I have herpes so I don't pass it on to others. Can you suggest a blood test or another way to know if I do have the virus? Are there any other conditions I could have that my doctor didn't think of? Or, could molluscum just get really irritated and swollen? Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it!
