missed pill - breakthrough bleedingFrom: Jennifer (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 17 Jul 2003 08:23:26 -0500 (CDT)
I am 26 years old, married and have been on the pill (Orthocyclen) for 5 years. I accidentally missed one pill in the first week of my pill pack - the first time I have ever missed a pill. I remembered to take it the next morning (12 hours late). I had sex during the week before I missed the pill, but we used condoms after I missed the pill. During the second week of pills I started spotting and have have had spotting or light bleeding for two weeks. I start the placebo pills on Sunday, but the bleeding is tapering off. Since I started spotting does that mean that it is unlikely I will become pregnant from missing the one pill? If I don't have my normal period should I do a pregnancy test or assume that the breakthrough bleeding counts as a withdrawal bleed? Thanks.
