seven weeks

I am seven weeks pregnant. I am currently across the country from home and I started having a brown discharge about nine days ago. My doctor advised me not to go to the ER because an internal exam might do more harm than good. He said if I feel it's an emergency, then to do as I please. Otherwise he'd see me when I get home. I've been reading one story after another on line and in books, and hearing one story after another of bleeding and discharge during early pregnancy froom everyone around me. I tested positive for the beta strep test. Could that infection combined with "old blood" be causing this brown discharge? It's not continuous. Usually only happens when I am standing up, rarely occurs when I'm lying down. NO pain at all, no cramping...however it's been going on, off and on, for the last nine days. It's somewhat mucousy, somewhat fluid, changing off and on. No red blood, no changes in color. I understand that I should still seek emergency attention and I'll be heading home in three days. I just wanted to know if you could offer some reassuring words that this might not be a miscarraige...or even some painfully truthful words if it seems to have been one. Thank you for your time and attention. Sincerely, Kathleen Donovan patchoo777@aol.com
