You would probably just start the new pill on the same day that you normally start your next pack of Ortho Tricyclen, after the usual withdrawal bleed. You might be able to just take the new pill on that first Sunday, but you'd probably still have a period anyway. The new pill will be effective right away as long as you don't take a month off (that wouldn't be necessary and would be more likely to mess up your cycles). When you get the new prescription from your doctor, ask which way would be best.
