Young woman's fear of infertility

When I was seventeen, my period stopped for six months, probably because of the crash diet I went on at the time (I lost over seventy pounds in a few months, and was probably borderline anorexic for a year, but I have since started eating healthy and am now a healthy weight). My period came back at the start of my freshman year of college, but it was a little irregular for a while, usually coming a week or so late, whereas I was regular before. I met my current boyfriend of almost three years this same year. At the end of freshman year, I went on the pill. I was on it for most of sophomore year, then stopped taking it for a period of almost six months towards the end of that year. During this time, my period never became regular. It was always in a five to six week cycle. I started taking the pill again at the beginning of this, my junior year. My period is still strange, coming a day or two later than the pill pack says it should come. Perhaps this is because of my tendency to forget to take it sometimes, I don't know. I very much want to have children someday. I am afraid that I might not be able to because of my previous period troubles. Is there any way to test my fertility without getting pregnant or going off the pill for a long period of time? It would be a great relief to know this, as sometimes I get very worried and upset about it all because bearing children is very important to me. Thank you for your help.
