Diamond,
i had the same thing happen to me. I finally told my mom, she took me to the doctor who could feel a cyst on my ovary. The brown discharge was apparently the cyst bleeding. He did an ultrasound to confirm this. He put me on the birth control pill for one month, this caused me to pass the cyst (it was the size of a golfball, so I don't know how it passed, but i saw it, ewe). Anyhow, I'm now 23 and I've been fairly regular with my menstruation ever since. Good luck, i know it's scary to go to the gyn the first time, but they're pretty ok. By the way, I was freaked out by the cyst, but it turned out to be no big deal at all.
