bleeding after gyno exam

I have been to two gynocologists and each time I have bled after the exam. Actually, I bleed and cramp up just as if I have my period, but it only lasts about a day. All my tests always come back normal and the doctors always say "it's normal". I'm concerned that it may not be normal and they may not be aware of some less known conditions. Also, the metal thing they use to open the cervix, I believe, is very painful. I try to relax during exam, but sometimes I feel like it just may be too big or something. Am I crazy, or can it really be too big for me?
