Partial uterine prolapse into rectumFrom: Rose (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 5 Jun 2003 21:45:41 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, For several months I have had severe pain in my rectal and vaginal area. After going to OBGYNs and GI specialists, I underwent a colonoscopy. The doctors found a redundant colon and a uterus that has partially prolapsed into my rectum. He recommended kegal exercises and Metamucil. The pain is so horrible I can't even walk. It feels as if I have a rock pressing into my rectal/vaginal area. I am only 24 years old, have never had a child, and in fact, have never had sexual intercourse. I don't lift weights, and I am 5'4, 125 pounds. In other words, I have none of the risk factors for prolapse. A pelvic ultrasound revealed no fibroids or tumors on the uterus. I've been doing kegels for two months, and things aren't getting better. Are there any other treatment options? The surgery sounds terribly invasive and not all that promising. I am concerned it will make the problem worse or cause me future sexual problems. I will not consider a hysterectomy. I am desperate for advice and some relief from this pain.
