alternative to hysterectomy for DUBFrom: sameasalways (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 3 Jun 2003 06:54:33 -0500 (CDT)
As is typical, other tests have been run to rule out physiological causes. A CBC and TSH test were also run. NOthing abnormal found....had the hysterescope, vag. ultrasound and D & C. Nothing found. I am pretty much intolerant or afraid of oral contraceptives due to the past experiences they have played with my mood , causing tearfulness, anger outbursts, increased appetite and a weight gain of 40 lbs on triphasil when I was 17. When i stopped taking the pill the weight fell off me like water off a ducks back. I have since tried ortho tryclen but the mood prblems were severe on that. I was on a pill once that caused me to be so drowsy i could barely get up. Is there a possibility that they were giving me a pill with too much progesterone, as well as the wrong pill due to it being triphasic rather than monophasic? I really don't want a hysterectomy just for DUB when I am in no pain and I am 27 years old (with two kids). The doctor won't do endometrial ablation nor MIrena, and I am confused as to this as I have read they are good alternatives. I am seeking an off base referral to get a 2nd opinion (we are in germany right now) but I am really worried about the ultimate outcome. I have severe PMD also and take serzone for it....and also have back acne, facial acne, and hirsutism. I was told by the dr. wanting to do the hysterectomy that it often gets rid of PMD symptoms (he will leave my ovaries). What should I ask when I see the new doctor for a 2nd opinion?
