Re: Missed/Late Period

It is definitely possible to miss a period without being pregnant. There are many things that could cause this, including stress, increased exercise, hormonal imbalance, or illness. I don't know about hormones affecting her stomach, but if she is sick (with the flu or something, for example), that could cause her period to be late. Also, it may take several years for a young woman's cycle to become predictable and regular. If it is normal for her to be a week late, it sounds like her cycle just hasn't regulated yet. I wouldn't worry too much, but do a home pregnancy test just to reassure you both.
