When you skip the placebo week in order to skip a period, it is common to have some spotting during that week or during the following cycle. This is normal and doesn't hurt anything. Also common to have spotting in the first few cycles on the pill. If you still have spotting after your third pack of pills, call your doc and ask about trying a different pill. Triphasic pills like Ortho TriCyclen aren't the best for skipping periods because the levels of hormone are different each week. A monophasic pill (in which all 21 active pills are identical) would be better if you plan to skip your period often.
