Severe cramping months after IUD removed

I guess I wasn't clear. I no longer have the IUD. I expelled it during an episode of severe cramping. In the four cycles that have followed the expulsion, I have had similar cramping episodes once a month about a week before my period. These are extremely painful to the point where I cannot stand or do anything, and they last up to two hours. I never experienced anything like this before I got the IUD, but, as I said, I no longer have an IUD in. Any thoughts?
