Is this a normal reaction to treatment for a bacterial infection?

I was placed on Metrogel vaginal cream for a bacterial infection and have been taking it once daily at bedtime. I've taken it for 4 days now and have noticed something strange. I am on my period and it was extremely light. I took a bath and noticed that very large clumps of white matter and dark matter were coming out of my vagina. It was so solid and so much came out that it scared me. Does it make the blood clot, will it cause me to be clogged up? Is this a normal reaction to the metrogel or should I be worried that something underlying is wrong with me? I have also had very severe headaches for the past 2 days, is this a side effect also? I'm really worried so any answers you can give me would be helpful. Thank you.
