My oldest is 4 1/2 years old, and my youngest is going to be 3 years old this month. I just got married to a wonderful man this past February. He is wanting another baby (my two girls are not biologically his). Well, my problem with this is due to the problems I had with my other pregnancies. With my oldest daughter, when I was about 8 weeks pregnant I started spotting. Doctor did an ultrasound and he couldn't find anything significant. I spotted for about half of my pregnancy. I had bad morning sickness that lasted 24/7 for the first 4 - 5 months of my pregnancy. I ended up in the hospital admitted three times due to dehydration. Well, when I was about 6 months along, I started having contractions. I was put on bedrest for a while. When it came time for me to deliver, they broke my water. Baby had a bowel movement (meconium) so they knew they were going to have to suction her out before they let her cry. During labor, when I got my epidural it didn't take. They had to use a different medication through my epidural. Then the tops of my legs hurt really bad but they didn't know why. My oxygen dropped so they put an Oxy mask on me and baby's heart rate dropped. I pushed and pushed and pushed but she wouldn't come out. They used the vaccuum device to get her out. They got her all cleaned out and a few hours later she was put in the NICU. She had Group B Strep. With my second pregnancy (my youngest daughter). I also spotted with this one early on...about two months along. I had an appendectomy a couple of weeks before I found out I was pregnant but I was pregnant at the time. When they did an ultrasound to find out why I was bleeding they found a pool of blood sitting in my cervix. A month an a half before my due date I went into labor. I went to the hospital and they stopped my labor. From then until I ended up delivering I was in the hospital every one to two weeks with severe contractions every 3-5 minutes. They would hook me up to the monitor and said I was going to have a baby today, but my cervix wouldn't dialate past 3 so they would send me home and say, "I will see you later tonight to deliver that baby." Well I never would go back later that night. The day I went in to have my daughter...I was contracting strong every 3 minutes. Once again, my cervix wouldn't dialate past 3. One nurse came in and pushed on my cervix to move it some way or another and it made me dialate from 3 to 5 with one contraction. They gave me my epidural and it worked well. Once it wore off they came in to give me more, but gave me a different med or something and it didn't take (just like with my first daughter). Well, after delivery, I bled really bad. The nurse couldn't get it to stop. She wouldn't let me get out of bed to bathe after delivery due to the severity of bleeding. She called my doctor and he put me on a med that would give me more contractions. They got the bleeding to slow down, but I bled a lot for a while. The following day when they tested my hemoglobin...it was at 6. They rechecked this a couple of times due to them being amazed that I was coherent with a hemoglobin this low. It took almost a year to get back to normal. Then, recently I got pregnant once again. I got very sick. I was vomiting every 10 minutes with diarrhea. I was in the ER three times to get rehydrated. I then ended up in the hospital admitted with severe dehydration. I also had a blood pressure of 68/52. Unfortunately, I had to abort this child (aborted 12/2/03). When I went in for my abortion I was about 9 - 10 weeks along. The test showed the baby was about 6 weeks. Now, my husband wants us to have another child, but I am terrified of what may happen. My health has not been the greatest with previous pregnancies, and I am not sure I would make it through another one alive. My mother is petrified and telling me not to have another one because she has a gut feeling I wouldn't make it through....the thing that scares me is her gut feelings are usually correct. Also, with all three of my pregnancies I would rarely leave home because even if I would stand up for ten or fifteen minutes I would get really dizzy, nauseated, my vision would get black and my hearing muffled then sometimes I would vomit. This happend with all three pregnancies which made it so difficult to go anwhere. My husband does know what I have been through for I have told him in detail, and he doesn't want to lose me, but he wants another child so badly...and it doesn't help that my sister has a 4 month old baby which makes his desire to have a child even greater. What should I do? I told my husband I wanted to get my tubes tied so I wouldn't have to worry about it, but he isn't fond of that idea. Is there anyway you can help?
