Condoms and The Pill(Please Reply)

Hi everyone, I have noticed that a lot of people writing say that they still use condoms while on the birth control pill. I just started birth control pills and it was my assumption that you didn't have to use a condom while on the pill. It is supposed to be 99% effective when used correctly, so why isn't anyone trusting their pill? I would like to know if using a condom while on the pill(and taking it regularly as prescribed)is necessary(if you trust you and your partner's sexual history etc.), and also if withdrawal during sex is necessary while on the pill(isn't the whole point of the pill to replace these unsatisfactory methods?). Thank you very much for replying.

P.S. Please, I don't want a lecture about the need for condoms to prevent STDs, that is not a problem in my relationship.
