vulvar lumps + STDS thru oral transmissionFrom: andy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 Apr 2003 03:29:06 -0500 (CDT)
Hi. I'm a 22 year old college student. I've been noticing vulvar lumps for the past few years, but thought nothing of them since they went away usually within a week. They weren't painful and I thought thier occurence was related to my period, though i did not note a trend. They also predated the first time I became sexually active. Recently, the last two lumps I had were painful, and one bled for a few days (not much, but noticeable). Is there anything you can tell me about what may possibly be the problem? My last question concerns STD testing. Although I used a condom during vaginal intercourse, my partner and I did not use one for oral sex. Is it possible that I could have an STD that would not be picked up on a normal GYN exam? The last two exams I had after being sexually active came back negative for possible STDS. Would a throat culture be the appropriate test to determine if I have an STD? Thank You
