birth control with family history of breast/uterus cancer

I am interested in going on the birth control pill. I am not and have not been sexually active, but I do get bad cramps before my period. I've read it is not a good idea to go on the Pill if you have a family history of breast cancer. I have a family history of breast cancer on my mother's side (my Grandmother), and uterus cancer on my father's side (my Grandmother). Is it unsafe for me to go on the Pill?
