Burning stomach caused by Flagyl?

I wrote about a week ago with my question about the white discharge, so I went to the doctor & it turns out that it was Bacterial Vaginosis.

The doctor then gave me a rx for Flagyl, 500mg, 2 pills a day. I took the first two pills (one at night/one the next morning), & everything was fine.

The next day, I went to Denny's & got a chicken sandwhich, took one of the pills about an hour after eating & went home & took a nap. I woke up 6 hours later with excruciating stomach pains. I couldn't even sleep through the night because it was this extreme burning sensation in my stomach area. I had also started my period at this time and when I went to the bathroom, I noticed multiple blood clots in my menstral blood.

I do not think they were menstral cramps because I rarely get cramps, and when I *do* I can distinguish them from stomach cramps. These stomach cramps were located above my navel, & it felt like a cross between gas pains and a heart burn-like sensation, but much worse and coming in waves-and I was also experiencing alot of burping . The next morning, (when I suppose the pill wore off) I started to feel better, but then I took the next Flagyl pill, and the symptoms started all over again.

Basically, the question is: Could this burning stomach be because of Flagyl or stomach poisoning on behalf of the Denny's Sandwhich? (ps. I wasn't nausiated, just had stomach pain)

And if it was the Flagyl, since it is 500 mg, could I get it in a smaller dose that wouldn't cause these problems (because they are debilitating) or is there anything else to treat BV?

Thanks
