Re: Birth Control pill levelFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 17 Apr 2003 00:07:54 -0500 (CDT)
Hi! Well, put it this way - you're either pregnant or not - there's no such thing as MORE pregnant. Same with BCPS - you're either protected or you're not. ALl BCPS will be helpful in preventing pregnancy or else they wouldn't be on the market. The different hormone levels are made to match individuals who need less/more hormones. I, personally, am on alesse which is the lowest does of hormones, at it protects against pregnancy and is perfect for me. The reason why i know this is because my period comes at the appropriate time and isn't too light or too heavy. If, for instance, one's period is coming a week before the placebo pills, it might be that there aren't enough hormones, or maybe there are too many. Your doc will know what's right for you based on the reasons as to why you're going on the pill and your current health. Sometimes it's luck - many people end up switching pills. You just have to find the one that's right for you. But if you're having no strange symptoms - like a period that lasts for 1 day or a period that lasts 2 weeks, then the pill shoudl be fine. So it all depends on your health and how many hormones you need....but let's say that alesse seems to be working for you, then one with many more hormones wouldn't be necessary, and could actually cause complications.
Hopei answered your question,
Michele.
