The efficacy of the combined oral contraceptive pill is comprimised if it is taken more than 12 hours late - so bear this in mind if you decide to start taking them later. As for breakthrough bleeding - this does occur within the first few cycles of taking the pill, and should reduce with time. Your new pill contains the same progestogen as before but at a higher dose, which could account for why you are only now experiencing breakthrough bleeding. If the bleeding does not got any better - go back and see your doctor, sho may consider changing your pill to one containing a newer progestogen, which will have fewer side effects.
