While it is impossible to diagnose a skin condition over the internet without seeing it--I will offer you two pieces of advice: 1)I get hives as an alergic reaction --- they swell into giant red patches and they ooze puss (definitly gross)--it could be hives...but, that being said....2)your friend needs to have a dermatologist look at the actual rash to find out what it is......it could be many things and have many causes......no need to jump to the worst possible conclusion..... : )
