yeast infection

Two months ago, I went in for a pap smear and was told that I had a slight yeast infection. I was experiencing no itching or foul odor symptoms other than a thick discharge. This was my very first yeast infection. Therefore, my ob/gyn recommended I take a 1-day over the counter. After the first 2-3 days, I saw that there was noticeable relief of the symptoms, they were almost gone. However, after the 5th day after treatment I noticed that the yeast had returned. My ob/gyn then prescribed Diflucan which successfully cleared up the yeast. A month later, I was sick with the flu and was put on antibiotics. As a result, I got another yeast infection which I decided to treat with the 1-day. Days 2-3 were great and I thought that my yeast infection had cleared up. It is now day 5 and it seems to have returned, not quite as thick and slightly runny, but the same white discharge as before. I have called my ob/gyn to ask if I should take the Diflucan again. Is it possible that I am just not susceptible to the over-the-counter products? Is there something that I am doing wrong? Please let me know, I just want to know how to make it go away and stay away. I have never had any issues with yeast infections prior to my first last month, I just want to make sure that this DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I do not habitually wear tight clothes, I wear cotton undergarments, I'm trying to eat yogurt more, I don't douche, I do cleanse thoroughly with unscented soap. Please let me know if there is anything, if at all I can do to prevent any future incidents of yeast infection.
