Stopping and Starting the Pill - 2 weeks

For a vacation, I wanted to delay my period so it would happen two weeks later than it would have without any changes to my pill-taking schedule. So after talking to the pharmacist, I've finished the sugar pills, have stopped taking pills altogether, and plan to start up again after two weeks have passed. Reading the archives it looks like it would have been better to continue taking active pills, completely skipping the sugar pills.

Have I done anything really bad to my body, for example is my future fertility compromised?

What effects should I expect, anything to look out for?

How long should I use a second form of contraception?

Thank you for your help.
