Re: Menstruation and sportFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 19 Mar 2003 16:55:50 -0600 (CST)
Just some advice from a tampon user....... I was 12 with my first period, and as soon as the second one came I started using tampons, the slender size. I loved to swim, frequent the beach and was in gymnastics and such, where pads could not be used, not to mention I just felt gross wearing them. I never had any problems with them, and used them all the time except the periods following pregnancy when its a no-no. Tampons are generally small enough not to bother the hymen(especially slender or junior), and if she is very active in sports and such, her hymen may not even be in tact(intercourse isnt the only way), as it can stretch and tear over time on its own(gymnastics and such).
