Infection? Please respond.From: UCLA_MD2B (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 27 Feb 2003 22:37:16 -0600 (CST)
Last week I noticed that I started to smell pretty bad in my vaginal area. My underwear would become soaked with a watery discharge (not thick at all... it just felt like I wet my pants or something) that was clear/very light brown. These symptoms came near the time when I was supposed to start my period. It hasn't come yet, so it is a week late. I tried washing with soap up my vagina but it didn't help... I would smell bad an hour or so after my shower. It seems to be getting better (the watery discharge is gone and I don't smell as bad, but I still smell somewhat). Are these symptoms of a yeast infection? Or could it be bacterial? If it is bacterial, will it heal itself eventually? It will be hard for me to see a gynocologist any time soon. If left untreated, is there potential that scar tissue could form and cause fertility issues later in life? I am a 19 year old virgin, for the record, so an STD is out of the question. Thanks for any advice.
