Antibiotics & The Pill?*" I am a 17 year old sexually active girl (for about 2 or 3 months). I have been on the Pill (Necon 1/35) for about a year and a half now. I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection at the gynecologist today. I was given a prescription for Macrobid, 2 pills a day for 3 days. When I picked up the prescription at the pharmacy, there was a warning label that said "certain medications may alter the effectiveness of birth control pills". It didn't say specifically whether macrobid alters the effectiveness of birth control pills. Does anyone know if I need to use a back-up protection method during sex while using Macrobid?
