necessary to take all placebo pills?

I am on a monophasic pill, Yasmin. I was told that my periods would be lighter/less painful when on the pill. They seem to be more painful than ever and my cycle has shortened to a consisten 24 days (i always get my period on the fourth day of placebo pills). Last month I began starting my new pack in the middle of my placebo pills (again, on the 4th day). My cramping and bloating was significantly less and my period significantly shorter. Is it okay for me to continue doing this--taking only four of the placebo pills? I have been on birth control for 6 months.
