Problems with the Mirena coil!

Hi there,

this is my 1st time posting here, so hello to everyone! I had the Mirena Coil fitted at the beginning of January thinking that it would be the answer to all my problems. I am far too forgetful to take the contraceptive pill (i was on that when my son was concieved!!) and as I have a tendancy to gain weight and go 'crazy' when I am menstruating the depo injection is out for me too. My periods have become very long, painful and heavy - I have had 2 since I had it put in. When I say painful I mean totally crippling, the only thing I can liken it to is labour contractions! I was under the impression that my periods would get a lot lighter and maybe even disappear, so this is a huge shock to me, especially as my periods were manageable before. I was wondering if this is a sign of my body rejecting the coil or if there was a 'settling down' period? I am considering getting it removed as it all seems too much hassle, do you think I should wait it out?

Thanx
