Breakthrough ovulation?

I am 22 years old, have been sexually active since age 19 with 1 partner, have no children, and have taken Ortho Cyclen since 1999. This month, about 2 weeks into the active pills, I experienced some light spotting (pinkish) and what looked like pieces of tissue. It stopped after about 48 hours. My vaginal discharge is also looking sort of yellow. I was at my gynecologist's about 2 months ago, and tested negative for STDs. Could this be breakthrough ovulation? An infection? Please advise.
