Should she get a second opinion? .Thanks, Twyla Twyla, While I'm no fan of hormones and birth control pills, millions of women have taken them for years without any ill effects, amy of them beginning at an age of approximately of your step-daughter. From your earlier post, she was having a lot of bleeding problems- that's not necessarily endo, but the pill would control the bleeding. Sometimes in medicine it's appropriate to prescribe something to control symptoms while the problem is being investigated. However,I don't think an ultrasound is going to prove or disprove endo. Bleeding problems are pretty common in younger girls. Why don't you post on the Women's Health forum so a doctor can answer your question? You can also search the archives there and also try webmd.com. Also, her doctor should go over all of the treatment options and why he thinks one should be chosen over another. If you still feel another opinion is needed, then go ahead.
