Doc Want's To Put 15 yr Old On BC To Stop Menstrual Cycle!!!!!! WHAT???????From: Twyla (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 12 Feb 2003 09:13:00 -0600 (CST)
My 15 yr old step daughter is showing symptoms's of early endo. Her mother took her to the doctor yesterday because she bled for 3 weeks this last menstrual cycle. The doctor is going to give her an ultrasound Monday to be sure if this is definately the early stages of endo . However, he gave her some birth control pills to take to stop her cycles altogether. Is this safe? I mean especially for someone so young. I'm not a doctor but I just don't see how something so natural as having your period should be halted.Can she have future problems or would the endo be worse than having no period? I'm just very concerned that he gave them to her to take when he wasn't even sure if that's the problem. Should she get a second opinion? .Thanks, Twyla
