When should I have this procedure done?From: Alyssa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 10 Feb 2003 21:37:13 -0600 (CST)
I have been told that the cause of my chronic pelvic pain could be a result of blood trapped inside my vagina due to an almost completely imperforate hymen. Well, I have made the decision to have it done, but when? I already know I may have to find a different doctor to perform it because my doctor said he didn't have permission to do this. I'm not sure if that means he has to get special permission or what, but when should I go back to him and decide what to do? I want to have it done asap so I can finally use tampons, but I'm not sure if that's a logical enough reason to have it done, because my insurance company may say that the only reason I'm having it done is to be able to have sex, and they don't want to have to worry about covering an illegitimate child on a minor. And is there any chance of an infection if I don't have it done soon, because I have always had a wierd smell from there, it smells kind of like dead fish you smell when you're on the river. Could I have an infection right now? Will they cover it? And when should I have it done?
