I had a similar experience, and it turned out my IUD had slipped and the tip was sticking out of my cervix and rubbing against it. I discovered it myself by feeling it. Just feel for your string and follow it back to your cervix. If you can feel the end of the IUD, it is a problem. You should probably contact your GYN and have him/her check it out either way.
