Pregnancy/period question

I have a question that's probably been asked before but can't seem to find it specifically in the archives. I have been on the pill for almost a year now. I had sex with my boyfriend during week 3, and had my period right on schedule in week 4. I have no reason to be worried yet- but is it true you can still be pregnant, even if you had your period? I'm on the pill so I probably shouldn't worry at all. But what if a change in birth control pills make you skip your period? how do you ever feel confident in it? Thanks
