I am the same way. My first vaginal exam was pure *ell, but a urologist was performing it to see if something was wrong when I was having so much pain all of the time. I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. The urologist told me I needed to go see a Gynecologist Anyway, when the cyst was gone, I was still having so much pain, so they did a Laparoscopy. While he had me under anesthesia, he did a vaginal exam since I was in such awful pain when he tried to insert even a cotton swab. He told me that where the Hymen was supposed to be a tissue, mine had over-developed or something, and turned into a muscle. And it would have to be removed (an operation called a "hymenectomy") before I could even wear a tampon. And he also said that where the hymen is also supposed to be like a chunk of swiss cheese, with a lot of holes throughout it, mine only has 3 that he could count. So you might want to go see another gyn and talk to him/her about this. But some doctors might say that it is just a matter of relaxing. So see one doctor, and if he/she says one thing, and you don't put all faith in it, let him/her know you are going to attain a second opinion. I hope this helped!
