If your Dr. performed an exam, then your hymen has already been broken. I too was very small and in pain during my first exam, but as time goes on you learn to relax which allows your muscles to loosen up some. The pain during the exam could have just been from you being nervous. I'm in no way trying to say that it probably didn't hurt (because it does those first few times), but as you get older you learn to accept exams as a way of life and it doesn't bother you so bad. Don't worry about passing out during sex or having blood pouring out of your body.....just relax and make sure that you're 100% ready for both the emotional and physical effects being sexually active brings. Hope this helps.
