Bilateral Dermoid Ovarian CystsFrom: Mark&Jo (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 15 Jan 2003 21:54:52 +1100
I have just had an Ultrasound for suspected uterine fibroids and instead they have found Bilateral Dermoid Ovarian Cysts. My LSH ovary is 8cm and right 5cm. My GP is on holiday and I need to wait for her to return before I can discuss this further. In the meantime I have been researching this, as I am concerned about my ability to conceive. I am 32 and newly married with no children. I am looking for a surgeon who can save my ovaries, should I be looking for a fertility specialist (that is if ovaries have not already lost their ability to function). It has been suggested to me that I try fall pregnant 6 prior to surgery, what are your thoughts on this? Please can you let me know whether or not you think my ovaries might be saved with cysts of this size? Also, is it dangerous for me or a future foetus to be pregnant with dermoid cysts - could they potentially rupture? Any feedback would be gratefully appreciated. Kind regards, Joanna Powell
