Birth control/pregnancy

I am 21 and taking birthcontrol. I know that while a person is on birthcontrol they can become pregnant. I was wondering though that if they were still taking the medicine, would their period continue normally (same duration and flow) for the next few periods, or would they differ (either stop all together, come late, or be lighter)? I know that this can vary from person to person, but was curious if there was a certian kind of norm. I also know that you are not supposed to take birth control pills while pregnant, but if someone having their period normally and taking birth control, but may feel light headed or sick ocassionally if they could be pregnant, or if their menstration would differ somewhat. Thanks.
