Afraid of pelvic/sedation

I'm 17, and my doctor wants to do a pelvic exam for abdominal pain. When I last went, and I thought that I had to get an exam, they recorded my pulse at 132. I was pretty much panicked. She said that because I'm so nervous, they can give me a mild sedative to complete the exam. I'm too afraid to, because my cousin was once assaulted while at the gynecologists. I think it's no-win either way, so what should I do?
