Hi,
I am 19 years old and was just diagnosed with a probably dermoid tumor. It is 23 cm, and I have surgery next week. The doctor told me my ovary would probably have to be removed and even my uterus if the mass has connected to it or is coming from it. On the ultra sound my ovaries and my uterus cannot be identified. What are the likely chances that it would have connected to my uterus? Is a dermoid of this size common? I guess my main concern is the surgery itself. I have an obgyn performing the surgery with an oncologist on call, is that common or would I be better off with an oncologist performing the surgery? One more question! What are the chances that I will become infertile? Throught the growth of my dermoid, my periods have been pretty much regular.
