slight cramping in-between periods

Hello,

I am 22 and have been on the pill for the past year, as I used to have severely painful cramps during the first few days of my period. I have had much less cramping now. However, the first day of my last period (which was three weeks ago) was very painful. For the past two weeks, I have been experiencing slight, dull cramping in my lower abdomen (about 2 inches below my belly-button) and what looked like a little bit of old blood (only for one day and not enough to soil undergarments). I am also experiencing some slight pain in my lower back. It has been a particularily stressful time for me, but I have been doing all I can to relax and the slight pain is still there. Should this raise any concern for me? I am concerned about side-effects of the pill (I am on Diane-35 for the added bonus of clear skin), but I have been on it for exactly a year now and this is the first time I have noticed anything unusual. I have not been sexually active for the past six months. I have also scheduled an appointment with my doctor, but it is in a month's time.
