Can I change the time I take my birth control pill?

I've been on the pill about two weeks now and my routine is to take it at 9:00 every morning. I've noticed, though, that most of my side effects (nausea, headache, mood changes, uncomfortable intercourse, etc.) all come in the evening and at night. I thought maybe if I switched to taking the pill in the evening, then these side effects might be at their worst at night, while I'm sleeping. But I was wondering, can I suddenly change the time I take the pill like that? I would be taking it anywhere from 8-12 hours later than when I originally started taking it, and all the information says same time, every day. Will it lose it's effectiveness for a short time after I make the switch?
