I'm 23 and have never been on birth control before. On 10/19 my urologist put me on Trimethoprim (generic name) for treatment of urethritis. The prescription was for 30 pills to be taken twice per day. I'll take my last antibiotic this Saturday morning. The patient guide that came with the Mircette said if you start on the Sunday following the start of your period, which I did, you need to use another form of birth control for only the next 7 days. However, it also says while taking antibiotics you should use a second form of birth control. I've been having breakthrough bleeding for a week now.
