A Shocking StoryFrom: Mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 28 Oct 2002 22:20:16 -0600 (CST)
My sister has had more than one abortion in her lifetime. This particular one did not go too well. I suppose she was later on in the pregnancy so they decided to do a scraping of the uterus(i'm not sure of the medical term). After the procedure my sis was in quite a bit of pain which the doctors assured her was very normal for that type of procedure. A month later when my sister was supposed to recieve her period, it did not come. She presumed it was because of the abortion. She waited for it another month. On the third month of waiting for the period she recieved some major cramps but no blood, spotting or disscharge. One the fourth month she had the same ocurrance. This went on for a few more months with visits to her gyn and other docters and gyn's. On the ninth month with no period the cramps she recieved were so immense she could not move. Finally she managed to crawl out of bed to her telephone and got hold of a friend who drove her to the emergancy. Upon arrival they gave her some pain killers and said they would have a look. They examend her with a micro camera that was supposed to go up into her uterus. They could not get the camera up into her uterus because there was a large cyst. It was decided that a sugery would be performed on a later date. Because of the massive waiting list she was not able to have the surgery for another 3 months. My sister insisted with a lot of triumph that it be pushed to asap, she was not going through that pain again. The surgery was dated to be three weeks from that day.
-- During the surgery the doctors found that it was not a cyst but it was scar tissure that had formed and blocked the opening of the uterus. This scar tissue was said to be from the scraping of the uterus that had taken place ten months ago. Apparently the scaping had been done too rough. It took the doctors one hour to get through the thick scar tissue and when they did, what seemed to be eight or nine months of blood came pouring out. Basically it had been sitting there pushing up against the scar tissue, causing a lot of pain. The doctors were then worried that my sister would not then get another period. They believed because of the trauma she had started an early menopause. My sister was lucky becuase the very next month after a nervouse awaiting, she got her period.
