Dear BJ,

I think the answer depends on how old you are. If you are under 18, I would tell the doctor because otherwise he may suspect abuse and report it to the police... a very difficult situation for your family. However, if you are over 18, I think you can say that unless there is a medical reason the doctor is questioning you, you would prefer to keep the information private other than confirming that the scars will not reoccur in the future.
