Pauline, first of all, you and your husband should be treated simultaneously for any genital infection that may manifest in either one of you. BV characteristically gives a foul-smelling discharge or at least a foul-smell at the onset of your menstrual period or during or just after intercourse. So, if you are certain that it's BV that you have currently, then the two of you should be treated. It is possible that you are presenting some other infection other than BV. A microbiological study/ vaginal smear would help greatly in determining the right treatment for you.
