I am desperate with my reoccurring bacterial vaginosisFrom: Paulina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 25 Sep 2002 14:11:31 -0500 (CDT)
Dear experts, I'm 21, and a healthy woman except that I have reoccurring BV. I go to my gynecologist to get a proper diagnosis, and it's the same every time. I've been dealing with this for at 5 months. I hate taking medications and don't want to accept that this is something that I may deal with for the rest of my life. (This is what my doctor told me). I want to be able to treat it correctly and prevent it from coming back. He keeps prescribing me medications such as Metrozonline gel. It relieves my symptoms temporarily, but they come back within 3 weeks at the longest. He just prescribed me Relagard, but I haven't used it yet. I know that I should probably wait and see what happens with it, but I just found out through a forum like this that even though you may not get BV through sex, I can infect my husband. Is this why I keep getting it back? I'm trying to find help elsewhere because my gynecologist "failed" to tell me this even though he's supposed to be a specialist with these infections. I don't know what to do, I've been married for a year, and this infection really gets in the way! I eat yogurt, and I don't think that it's sex because we've been having sex for over 2 years and I never had this problem. My husband and I don't have other sex partners. Neither of us have any STDs except HPV. My doctor checked me for other STD such as Chlamydia and nothing. I've even changed all my underwear to 100% cotton. My symptoms confuse me because I only experience a mild itch. NO unordinary discharge or foul smell. What else can I do? PLEASE help me!
-- Thank you, Paulina
