The shorter period could have been implantation spotting. You're in luck, since today is Sept. 23rd if you have missed your (full blown) period by now, test again. An HPT should give you a correct answer by now. Good luck - and stay protected if you do not want pregnancy among other things (e.g. HIV, AIDS, Herpes, HPV, etc...)
