The progesterone shot is probably causing the bleeding. That side effect is common and the main reason most women want to stop using it.

I don't like long term use of progesterone as birth control - it's bad for your bones, can cause depression, killl ibido and the bleeding can make life miserable.

The big advantage is, it doesn't require a lot of effort to be protected against pregnancy.

With the new long-acting birth control patches available, you might want to re-evaluate your options. You can always decide to stay with the shot.
